For this project, which underpinned the MLIS course, my working group were charged with utilising an online platform which would proffer a potential designated user group access to a collection of digitised archival photos. This collection belonged to Aer Lingus.
The thesis provided us with the opportunity to work on a ‘real world’ project whereby we, as information professionals were required to apply our expertise and training in the information field to produce a project solution to a design brief or tender. Note that the team received a Grade A for this project.
Some of the competencies exercised were:
Communication (interpersonal and professional)
Research skills including information evaluation
Project planning and time management
Presentation skills: The group were required to present to a panel of Aer Lingus management and invited industry professionals.
